I Believe Your Marketing Should Sound Like You.

If your marketing no longer sounds as strong as the work you actually do, your messaging may need attention.

I'm Sue Borst, a brand strategist and marketing consultant based in San Antonio. I help businesses, nonprofits, and leadership teams clarify their message, strengthen their brand presence, and create content that sounds like them—not like everyone else.

Because great marketing isn't about saying more.

It's about saying the right things, consistently.

Today, businesses have more ways than ever to communicate with customers. Websites. Social media. Search engines. AI search tools. Email. Video.

The challenge isn't creating more content.

The challenge is making sure every touchpoint communicates the same clear message about who you are, who you help, and why someone should choose you.

That's where I come in.

What I Help Clients Do

  • Clarify their brand messaging

  • Define a consistent brand voice

  • Improve website messaging and visibility

  • Create strategic content that supports business goals

  • Strengthen thought leadership and online presence

  • Align marketing efforts across channels

My approach combines modern tools, practical business experience, and human strategy.

Yes, I use AI.

But AI doesn't define a brand voice.

People do.

Every piece of content I create is shaped by strategy, refined through experience, and aligned with the unique personality of the organization behind it.

A Little About Me

My career started in Manchester, England, where I worked in marketing for an electronics manufacturer.

That role eventually brought me to the United States, where I joined the marketing team of the company's California-based sister organization. Along the way, I married a software engineer, traded British rain for California sunshine, and eventually made San Antonio home.

Working across industries, countries, and organizations taught me something important:

The businesses that communicate clearly almost always outperform those that don't.

Not because they have bigger marketing budgets.

Because people understand what they do.

Today, through Sue Borst Marketing, I help organizations uncover that clarity and turn it into messaging that works.

Why Clients Work With Me

My clients aren't looking for marketing for marketing's sake.

They're looking for clarity.

They want messaging that reflects the quality of their work.

Content that sounds human.

And a brand presence that is aligned across every touchpoint.

That's the work I love doing.

And that's why I started Sue Borst Marketing.

Clear Messaging. Consistent Content. A Brand Presence That Is Aligned.

My Journey

Some people plan their careers. Mine came with a plot twist, a plane ticket, and a husband.

I started my marketing career at an electronics manufacturer in Manchester, England. What began as a marketing role unexpectedly led me across the Atlantic after I married a software engineer from the company's U.S.-based sister organization.

After relocating to California and joining the U.S. marketing team, I gained something I didn't realize would shape my career: a different perspective.

Growing up in one country and building a career in another taught me that communication isn't one-size-fits-all. Different cultures, different audiences, and different ways of thinking all influence how people connect with brands.

In 1998, our family settled in San Antonio, where we've proudly called home ever since.

Over the years, I've worked with nonprofits, educational institutions, financial services firms, professional service organizations, technology companies, and growing businesses. I've served as a Marketing Director, consultant, strategist, writer, and trusted partner helping organizations communicate more clearly and consistently.

What I've Learned

After more than 25 years in marketing communications, I've learned that most organizations don't have a marketing problem.

They have a clarity problem.

Their services have evolved.

Their audience has changed.

Their business has grown.

But their messaging hasn't kept pace.

That's where I come in.

I help organizations uncover what makes them different, define how they want to be perceived, and align their messaging across websites, content, LinkedIn, presentations, proposals, and marketing communications.

Because when your message is clear, everything else works harder.

Beyond the Work

When I'm not helping clients strengthen their brands, you'll usually find me spending time with family, supporting local organizations, networking with the San Antonio marketing community, or enjoying a good cup of tea—a habit I never quite left behind when I crossed the pond.

Turns out moving from Manchester to Texas was the best marketing education I never planned for.
